School in Boundary Bay will have 40 more spaces this September
Boundary Bay Montessori School (BBMS), known for its community-minded education that fosters the independent nature of the child, has announced that it will open its expanded childcare space in September 2024 to accommodate 40 additional children.
The new classroom introduces a Nido facility to the BBMS program, which already has a well-regarded curriculum for Casa (preschool and kindergarten) and elementary students.
Now, children can attend BBMS from as young as one-year-old and progress through the school’s program until they are ready to start high school. When the additional 40 Nido and Casa spaces are filled, the school will have approximately 95 children accessing its education and child-care expertise.

Boundary Bay Montessori School (BBMS), known for its community-minded education that fosters the independent nature of the child, today announced that it will open its expanded childcare space in September 2024 to accommodate 40 additional children. The new classroom introduces a Nido facility to the BBMS program, which already has a well-regarded curriculum for Casa (preschool and kindergarten) and elementary students.
Now, children can attend BBMS from as young as 1-year-old and progress through the school’s program until they are ready to start high school. When the additional 40 Nido and Casa spaces are filled, the school will have approximately 95 children accessing its education and child-care expertise.
“The creation of more childcare spaces is a priority for this Council and we thank the Ministry of Education and Child Care’s support of the Boundary Bay Montessori,” said Delta Mayor George V. Harvie. “This investment opens doors for Delta families in our growing community, providing greater access to enriching early learning opportunities within a nurturing and inclusive environment.”

Located adjacent to farmland and a short distance from Boundary Bay, the school will host an Open House event on May 25 to unveil the new Nido and Casa space to the community and families with prospective students. “Our small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, and the quality of education we offer has made BBMS very desirable. We’re not only a popular choice in Delta, but we have families who come from Richmond, White Rock, and Surrey,” Baldwin says. “So, this facility expansion couldn’t come at a better time to meet the demand we’re seeing.”
The terms “Nido” and “Casa” are Italian for “nest” and “home”, respectively. “Nido” refers to the warm and inviting environment offered to the 1-3 year-old child, providing nurturing and calm stimulation to enhance the development of the young child. “Casa” refers to the second home that the classroom becomes for the 3-5 year old child. Here, the children are actively engaged in learning about themselves, their environment and their world.

Since 1990, Boundary Bay Montessori School has offered preschool-to-elementary learning in Delta. The school is operated by the Montessori in Delta (MIND) Board, a not-for-profit society, and is located at 3800 72 Street. Its education is built on the foundation of principles developed by Maria Montessori, the famed Italian physician and teacher who created resources and curricula aimed at fostering the natural strengths of young minds and providing them with the social skills necessary to excel among their peers.

Boundary Bay Montessori students present Model UN program
This accomplishment speaks to our students’ incredible ability to engage, interact and problem solve with peers from all over the world.
A group of grade 5 to 7 students from Boundary Bay Montessori School travelled to New York City over Spring Break to participate in the Montessori Model United Nations program.
This is a full year program in which students go through the process of learning to become a UN delegate.

Boundary Bay Montessori students shine on World Stage
Congratulations are in order for the Grade 6 and 7 students at Boundary Bay Montessori School, who recently returned from an unforgettable experience at the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) conference held in March in New York City.
The students participated in a variety of specialized UN committees, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), the United Nations Women Assembly (UNWA), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
