Most parents were raised with some version of the model “Do what I say…”. It was expected that children would obey parents and later their teachers. What many parents and teachers have found is that the “obey” part does not seem to just naturally occur. What ensues is usually some version of power struggle which is the very opposite of peaceful parenting. So is there really a way to parent peacefully? Are power struggles inevitable? Lynn Sumida’s presentation will give you some tools to encourage cooperation from your child.
